Blogtober Day 18: Bookshelf Reviews- “Scary” Stories for Fall

October 18th 2018

Pulling from my personal library to find the best of the best in fall and Halloween literature~

Fall time is one of the best times to snuggle up with a good book, in my opinion. laying in bed while a nice fall candle burns, reading a spooky (or not so spooky) novel really puts me in the fall mood. Here are 3 suggestions I have for books that put me in the fall mood!

  1. Dream House by Marzia Bisognin
Marzia is one of my favorite YouTubers so when I first saw that she wrote a suspense novel, I knew I needed to snatch it right up. I must say, I truly loved it. To discuss the plot briefly while spoiling as little as possible. It is about a girl named Amethyst who shows up to a house one day, feeling particularly drawn to it, met the owners who appeared to be the perfect hosts…until they disappeared. I can’t say much more, but the plot kept me guessing all the way up until the end. I totally recommend you check it out.
  2. We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
I have already written a short review of this book a long long long time ago right at the start of my blog, but I have to bring it up again. I don’t want to give away too much but it is a psychological thriller about a family shunned by society after a murder tears the family from its roots. The story is told from the perspective of young Mary Katherine, aka Merricat, as she discusses her views of current situations, her family history, and the people in her town. I really can’t think of any better way to describe it, but you have to take my word for it when I said that it kept me gripped the entire time.
  3. Nancy Drew Novels by Carolyn Keene
I have written a full post about Nancy Drew novels but I feel the need to mention them again. I grew up reading Nancy Drew and playing Nancy Drew computer games. I feel like reading the stories of the young girl detective not only empowers me, but also excites me because each chapter leaves you wanting more.

What is on your fall reading list?
