Blogtober Day 11- Apple Picking and Fall Fun!

October 11th 2018

Nothing is better than yummy apples and farm fun!

Apple picking season is one of the things I look forward to year after year. There is something so fun and exciting about picking apples straight from the tree and snacking as you go! This year, my friend Angie and I spent a day at Harbes Orchard on Long Island, picking apples and wandering through corn.

At Harbes, you pay to enter and your entry fee covers a small apple bag. This was perfect because I always tend to overdo it with apples, so one small bag was more than enough for me. We picked golden delicious (my absolute favorite) and snapdragons (which were a hybrid of two types of apples and tasted really sweet and crisp).

After picking the apples we wanted, we headed over to the corn maze to see if we had any talent for finding our way through confusing places. Spoiler alert: we don’t have a talent for it and, if anything, we managed to get other people lost with us. The corn maze was very unique though because it featured live actors that helped you get through, taught you to shoot arrows and challenged you to sword fights. The whole thing took about 45 minutes.

Tired for our corn maze journey, we stopped off to get a cold cider slushie. As I have said so many times already this month, apple cider is my fall drink of choice so I was over the moon to enjoy some fresh cider.

Before leaving, we grabbed some fresh Sunflowers. I loved my little bouquet because it was super colorful and pretty.

When we returned to Angie’s we split up our apples and made a really tasty apple crisp.

What is your favorite fall activity?
