“Believe in yourself. Dream. Try. Do Good.” ~ Mr. Feeny
Yesterday I got my second tattoo and I wanted to take a second to talk about it. This tattoo was inspired by my favorite line of Boy Meets World, “Believe in yourself. Dream. Try. Do good.” This quote struck a chord with me ever since I first heard it, not only because Boy Meets World is my favorite show, but because of the context behind the quote.
This quote was said as one of the final lines of the series as the group prepared to move on and take on the world in their own ways, splitting up to follow their own paths. It was a jarring reminder that things do change but we must always continue to believe in the power of ourselves, dream for a better tomorrow, try for everything we wish to achieve, and most of all, do good.
Do good is the part that really struck me the most because it was not implying that you must do well, but instead do good. It implied that it doesn’t matter if you are succeeding and thriving, it matters that you’re trying to bring good to the world. I want to live my life in that way. Although I strive to do well whenever possible, my main goal in life is to do good.
I got this tattoo to mark my graduation from college and my completion of my first yoga teacher training. I wanted a constant reminder that no matter where life takes me, I want to make the world a better place. I want to work for companies that make the world a better place and make people happy, like I am doing now working in the arts. And I also want to teach yoga to children and adults and contribute to the betterment of their mind, bodies, and souls.
Most of all, I want this tattoo to be a reminder that even when the going gets tough, I still have so much to offer the world around me.
I can’t wait to see what kind of good I can bring to the world.
