Summer 2019 Favorites

June 17th 2019

Wanted to share a bit of what I’ve been into lately~

I haven’t done a favorites post in quite some time and I think this is a great time to bring it back right as we are about to enter a new summer that is sure to be filled with fresh experiences and fun adventures. This is my first summer in a new state which means there are a lot of places I would like to explore and it is also the perfect time to get my summer transformation started!

In terms of summer fashion, I have always been a huge fan of boho style and that definitely hasn’t changed, however, I am really digging the resurgence of 70’s inspired fashion with bold colors and prints. As much as I am a fan of muted colors and earth tones, I am loving the pops of orange, rich blues, and mustard yellow for summertime! One person I have really been into in terms of their style sense is AcaciaKersey. (all images used are from Pinterest. Check out my boards from some fashion inspo for all seasons!)

At the start of this year, I created a 2019 playlist that I have been adding and removing songs from all year! The whole point is to add what I’m into right now, and remove any songs that have become stale or annoying to listen to. By the end of the year, I hope to have a playlist that really sums up the vibe of the year! But to get into Summer favorites specifically, here are a few songs I’ve been loving:

Mother’s Daughter // Miley Cyrus- An actual empowerment bop that makes me feel like such a badass whenever I listen to it at the gym. Miley couldn’t have chosen a better time to release this song and her album She is Coming.

Truth Hurts // Lizzo- I have been on a huge Lizzo kick in general over the past month, but I have jumped on the bandwagon of people who love this song. It is a really awesome bop that gets me super fired up and makes me feel like an empowered woman (which you will see is a trend in my music choices this summer. I’d recommend you check out more of Lizzo’s stuff if you enjoy this song because a lot of her songs have empowering messages.

Nightmare // Halsey- This is last song in my “badass feminist” arsenal and it came out at a perfect time when females really need to feel empowered more than ever. Halsey really brought back grunge in a new way and the music video for this song is totally awesome. Nightmare claps back at all the expectations placed on girls and I totally recommend you check it out!

Good Things Fall Apart // Illenium & Jon Bellion- This song exceeds just being a summer favorite and has become a life favorite for me. The first time I heard this song, the lyrics resonated with me and experiences I have had so so many times throughout my life. I am seeing Jon in concert in August and I am ready to scream along to this song because it means so much to me. Check out this acoustic rendition from Jon Bellion’s instagram!

Those are my current tops, but check out my playlist whenever you want to see what I’m into in the current moment because my music tastes are ever-changing and evolving!

This last section is sort of a mix of things that I couldn’t build out a full category for! So here is a mix of products, snacks, books, activities, etc. that I have been feeling for summertime!

  1. Hiking- I just moved into a gated community with it’s own full network of hiking trails and I have been really into getting my daily sweat on by taking a long walk through the different trails and exploring what they have to offer. Check out my Instagram to keep up with some of my hiking adventures and other fun summer experiences that will pop up all summer!
  2. Moisturizer- This one is super non-specific but moisturizer has been a lifesaver for my skin this summer. The change in climate from NY to NC really has had my skin confused and moisturizing every day has really helped keep my skin looking clear and healthy.
  3. Going to the gym- This sounds really dumb, but honestly I have really gotten into the gym so far this summer. I have never been a huge gym person but I don’t mind the gym at my development because it is quiet, small, and usually pretty empty when I go so I don’t feel to self-conscious. My favorite machines are the leg press machine and the elliptical, but I have also gotten into bench pressing. My goal is to be able to bench 50lbs by the end of the summer which I know isn’t much, but it’s progress from my current 35lbs.

I don’t have that many things to share in my miscellaneous category this time around, but would love some recommendations for new things to try out that could possibly make the list this fall!

What are some of your favorites this summer?

  1. Amazing favorites post! I also have been loving mustard yellow lately for summer! It’s such a bold and pretty color for the warmer months.

Omg, Miley and Lizzo are both amazing musicians. I’ve been jamming to their new music all month. I’m talking constant replay lol!

I really want to start hiking more! I live near a forest preserve and my fiancé & I like to take walks there after work. It’s so relaxing!

Thanks for sharing! Loved the read! x
