Self-Care Corner- Valentine’s Day Self-Care for Singles

The most important love there is is self-love.

It is officially February which means that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. This is a lovely time for couples to spend time together and show each other an extra bit of love. However, some singles refer to Valentine’s Day as S.A.D. or Singles Awareness Day.  So this year, I want to take the SAD out of S.A.D. and share a few of my tips for fun things you can do to pamper yourself on Valentine’s Day when you’re single and want a little distraction. (Obviously, if you don’t care that you’re single and you don’t have any hard feelings on Valentine’s Day, that is totally fine. This post is just to help people who may feel a tad lonely!) This is my first Valentine’s Day completely single (not talking to or dating anyone) since I was about 15 so I am going to be using these tips myself as well this year!

  1. Spend Time with Friends- Turn Valentine’s Day into Galentine’s Day and have a girl’s night (or a guys night…Palentine’s Day?)! Get together with your single friends and have a night together! Go out to nice dinner, see a movie, or just have a spa night at home! Friend dates are the best dates!
  2. Try Something New- This is how I am spending my Valentine’s Day! My friend, Michaella, and I are going to be taking an aerial yoga class this Valentine’s Day! I am so excited to gain a new experience and possibly a new hobby that I am not even sad about being single on Valentine’s Day! Trying something new can take the attention off dating on Valentine’s Day and turn it towards fun memories and experiences! Here are just a few ideas of things you can try out this Valentine’s Day!
    1. Take a cooking class
    2. Learn to make pottery
    3. Try a new workout class
    4. Go to a wine tasting
  3. Book Yourself a Spa Appointment- Doesn’t need to be anything fancy, even just a pedicure. Treat yourself to a professional pamper session. Personally, I would love to try one of those float therapy sessions. However, you can try anything from manicures and pedicures, to massages and facials! Just take the day to treat yourself and relax!
  4. Embrace Being Single- Single isn’t a dirty word! Embrace being single on Valentine’s day and have a pamper evening by yourself! Be your own bae and buy yourself some nice flowers, chocolates, or indulge in something that makes you happy! Your relationship with yourself is the longest and strongest you will have in your life, make sure you show yourself some love instead of focusing on a lack of relationship. Because, at the end of the day, being single is no big deal!
