Changes To Come

The comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing grows there~

January is one of my favorite months for blogging because I find that it offers a lot of inspiration for making plans and reflecting on the past year of life and seeing where there is room to improve. When I look back at the beginning of 2018, I had no idea that my blog would be even close to what it is now. In the past year, I watched my blog grow substantially along with my content and myself as a writer.

I spent the year taking on tons of self-imposed blogging challenges like My Month in Self-Care, Blogtober, and my second annual Blogmas! I also did a bit of traveling and created a lot of fun travel content. I also feel I learned a lot about what works for me and what doesn’t.

I learned that cooking posts are a lot more work than they seem and I can’t do them as often as I’d like because I am still living at home. But I also realized that my cooking series would be amazing for when I move into my own place within the next year or so!

I also learned that writing about self-care, health, wellness, and mental health are all things I am incredibly passionate about and would love to dive even deeper into. I also realized that I can incorporate my love for self-help into my blog through book reviews and discussions. So, overall, I feel like I am in a good place with the content I am creating.

However, with some large changes in my life approaching, the way I am doing things will have to adjust too. Between moving soon, advancing my career to something full time, and balancing a lot of other smaller changes in my life, I decided I will only be posting 3 times a week instead of 4. I honest think this is the best choice because, aside from the huge array of changes being made in my personal life, I also feel like 4 posts a week caused me too much mental fatigue and I wouldn’t put out my best work some days.

I find that 4-5 less posts a month has really helped me make planning upcoming content easier and also helps me stay more ahead. I think this will really help my content in the long run because, the more content I can plan in advance, the more time I can focus on larger projects this year.

Which brings me to my next change…I want do take on more “projects”. There is something so satisfying about putting a lot of time and work into one post or idea and watching it blossom into something I am really proud of. While I still plan to post as I normally do, I want to take the time to create things that take a little more work and resources to get done. I have a few really good ideas for series that I am considering to be “reach goals” for 2019 and upcoming years!

Another big “change” is that I really want to incorporate my Instagram into my blogging routine. I have been so active on my blogging Instagram that I started back in August (@jessofearth) and I would love to really get into it this year and create a content calendar for that as well so I can stay on top of posting. If you would like to follow me, I would be happy to follow you back! Just comment on a recent post saying you came from my blog and I will happily follow and support you right back!

Lastly, I really want this year to be a year where I really engage with my audience and other members of the platform. I want to talk to other creators, collaborate when possible, have discussions in the comments, and find new content that engages me! I want to take the time to really turn my corner of the internet into a social place I can go and meet and interact with like-minded people.

What are some things you hope to see me do more of in 2019?

Jess~
