Step into Autumn in style~
Fall is one of my favorite times for fashion. Warm tones, jewel tones, and 70’s style grace the shelves of every store and cozy comforts replace crop tops and short shorts. I live for the layering of fall staples as well as the mixing of colors and textures. Here are just a few things to look out for this fall.
Plaid- Flannels and other plaid pieces are super in for fall time. Plaid is a great staple because there are so many types of plaid in ranges of colors and textures. Plus plaid is a great thing to add to any outfit to give it that outdoorsy feel or preppy feel.
-
Corduroy- I love corduroy, especially in warm tones like burnt orange and mustard! Forever 21 has a lot of cute pieces this year in both standard and plus sizes! You can wear corduroy in any piece from overalls, to pants, to jackets. It is incredibly versatile AND Warm. I have this cute button down I thrifted that is super cozy and goes with everything!
- Hounds tooth- Bring in a bit of business casual to your fall look. Hounds tooth is back and better than ever. Black and white hounds tooth pants, blazers, skirts, and blazers pair super well with staple fall colors like mustard, red, or even a jade green. Hounds tooth can be dressed and down so it really offers endless possibilities.
- Gingham- I love any piece of clothing that could also double as a table cloth. All jokes aside, gingham is a lot like hounds tooth in the sense that it can be dressed up and down. It can also be made incredibly preppy or edgy depending on what you pair it with.
-
Tights and Stockings/High Socks- I have to credit my friend, Angie, for this staple, but socks, stockings and tights are super cute for fall. I love thigh high socks with skirts and dresses and I also love ankle socks over tights with ankle booties. Dressing up an outfit with tights and socks is not only super cute but super functional.
-
Light Knits- It is a little too early to get into full blown sweaters, but light knits are great in fall. I love wearing cardigans to throw on an extra layer without committing to a heavy sweater. Knits can be dressy or slouchy and can be found in any length from cropped to dresses. I personally love super long sweaters with thigh high boots (taking a page from Ariana Grande’s style).
-
Faux Fur/Shearling- I love little hints of shearling and fur in denim jackets in the fall. I am against real fur, but I am all for fake furs. I have seen a lot of cute shearling bags this year and I also have a vest that I really love for this time of year that has faux fur.
What is your favorite fall fashion staple?

Great Post! I love you style. My favorite has to be plaid, I would wear it all year round if I could haha!
