Mid-Summer Update

There have been ups and downs in the heat of the summer~
So it is a little past the mid-way point through both the year and the summer so I decided to take some time to reflect on how my summer has gone so far. To put it briefly, I feel like summer has barely started, but I also feel like it is almost over. I don’t know why this summer hasn’t exactly felt “summery” to me, but I am trying my best to enjoy this time of year anyway.

I have been walking a lot and even increased my average daily and weekly step counts significantly. Since I started looking at my step counts, I feel like I have been motivated to walk more than I initially have been. I have also been keeping up with working out and eating well whenever possible and I’ve lost a couple of pounds as a result. Losing weight is great when it is done healthily, but it also sucks because I am beginning to shrink out of some of my favorite clothing pieces. It is a bit bitter sweet.

Also, in the realm of clothes and fashion, I did a completely clean out of all of my clothes and got rid of quite a few things that I didn’t see the use for anymore. I am always happy when things are in good enough condition to donate, so that other people can enjoy them as much as I previously had. Cleaning out my closets, as well as losing a little weight, has also inspired me to put more effort into getting dressed every morning. I find that I feel more confident when I wear an outfit I feel really good about. I call this process of exploring and giving new life to my clothes, “shopping my closet” and I hope to make a blog post about how I’ve been learning to shop my closet in upcoming weeks.

In terms of social life, I’ve been busy to say the least. Almost too busy for my liking. Between birthdays, holidays, concerts, my long distance relationship, work, and more, I am constantly moving. I am really trying to fix my sleeping schedule because I have been trying to cram so much into one day that I have developed this tendency of staying up late to utilize every second of me time then waking up early to work out.

To be honest, I am really pumped for fall to start. Fall is my favorite season and despite the fact that I love the freedom I feel during summer to do a lot of fun activities, fall is where I truly shine. Plus, I have a lot of great ideas for fall content this year that I can’t wait to get started on.

However, I still have a few more goals that I would love to complete this summer, if possible!

  1. Lose 5-10 more lbs by September
  2. Go to the Bronx Zoo
  3. Go to Coney Island
  4. Take a sunset walk along the boardwalk
  5. Go to another street fair or carnival

And most of all, I want to get back into my blogging groove. My friend Devan and I have really been talking about what we hope to get out of blogging and how I feel like I am struggling to feel like I am accomplishing anything despite all of the growth I’ve been seeing and the excitement I’ve felt towards my content. I feel that I am sort of losing steam and I am having trouble getting excited for the posts that I really want to write. I just need to get back in the groove and stay motivated in the hopes that something gives.

However, I have had a few really great ideas that I would really love to pursue in the future and I hope everyone will stick around and join me as I explore all new formats of posting.

How is your summer going? What do you hope to do before summer ends?
