“And suddenly you know…It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of new beginnings”
One of my favorite personal traditions is reading my 2018 zodiac horoscope and my 2018 Chinese New Year horoscope right at the beginning of the year so I have an idea of how my year looks. I know some people don’t believe in horoscopes and things, but I personally find them fun. Obviously I don’t live by every word they say, but I do find them to be a gentle push in the right direction when applicable.
I am a Pisces, born in the year of the Boar/Pig. Oddly enough, I find that this combination is pretty well matched. I think one reason for that is that Pisces is a water sign and so is Pig. Both signs are gentle and sweet. Pigs are strong leaders while Pisces seem to have a bit more introversion. Pigs are strong in the realm of careers and Pisces are into very creative mediums (which is why things like working in social media at a performing arts center and writing a blog have appealed to me so much). Pisces are also spiritually flowy people and Pigs have a good grasp on introspection and the interior working of their lives.
So, it came as no surprise to me that my horoscopes for 2018 under both signs turned out to be pretty similar for me! Overall, it looks like 2018 is going to be a big year for new opportunities to explore new places, interests, passions, and friendships! A lot of what my 2017 horoscopes had to say was pretty spot on, and I am even more excited for 2018.
One thing that really caught my attention in both horoscopes is the constant mention of opportunities and the ability to turn my passions into a money making career. Right now, I am working at 2 of my passions, blogging and yoga teaching, and would be thrilled if either (or both) could help me yield some livable income. However, there is one passion that I have toyed with the prospect of trying for years now. (Literally, years. If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know that I have been talking about this endlessly for the past nearly two years with little progress because I’m a scaredy wimp.) I really want to try YouTube…again.
As of now, my biggest obstacle is finding a good editing system for my computer, but I may be getting a new computer soon so that may come into play when I make a purchase decision! I think a large mental block that stopped me from starting sooner was that I didn’t know what kind of content I wanted to create. However, now that I have become more active on my blog, I find that there is a lot of video content I could produce that would lend itself nicely to my blog posts.
Think of it as supplemental content in a way. I could use the videos to enhancing my blogging! I could teach yoga flows or do hauls without taking a billion photos. It would also make for fun content in my cooking and baking related posts to show you the process of my friends and I learning to prepare things! I could even do covers which is something I really want to push myself to do.
I’m not sure if this is the opportunity that my horoscopes have been discussing, but I think it is a fun thing to look into. Especially because one big takeaway from both horoscope was that, regardless of opportunity, I should try to say yes to more in order to open more doors and learn through experience. So that is what I intend to do, learn through experience.
