The Universe does not owe you anything. (This has been a public service announcement)
The word entitlement has been thrown around a lot when talking about my generation and the generations following mine. In this case, the word entitlement refers to “the belief that one is inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment”. Well, newsflash: we aren’t. The Universe has no debt to us. We don’t just get things because we did a nice thing once or we went through some hard times and feel we deserve some compensation for our suffering. The Universe does not reward those who do not work to put positive karmic energy out into it.
I feel like being raised in the media generation where a thirteen year old girl, who steal cars and can’t speak proper English gets famous and earns millions of dollars for actually being one of the most disrespectful people ever, has really contributed to the idea that we are entitled to fame and success and that we don’t have to do anything positive to earn it.
I do admit, some people fall through the cracks like that thirteen year old girl, but in most cases, success comes to those who put the positive energy into motion. Life doesn’t do hand outs. You aren’t going to wake up one day and have someone knocking on your door saying they want to make you a star for work you haven’t done. And fun fact, having a nice personality doesn’t mean you will be successful. Although charisma is a strong trait and a catalyst to success, you can’t thrive on personality alone and you don’t deserve nice things just because you’re a nice person.
The Universe rewards effort. The Universe rewards people by giving them the opportunity to make their own path and presenting them with more opportunities as they pave the way for themselves.
The Universe hasn’t given up on you, it just wants to see you work.
