Taking a moment to drop in and say my thanks~
I started my blog back in February of 2016. When I first started out, I was incredibly insecure about my writing and my thoughts in general and did my best to hide it from the world. Despite my site being public, I never tagged my posts or told people about them on social media or even in my personal life. I began JessofEarth in the hopes of building my own confidence enough to share it with people someday. Last year around February or March, I decided to slowly start discussing my blog publicly, adding tags to my posts, and posting a post here and there on social media.
I wasn’t incredibly focused on growth, but more just feeling more confident in putting my words, thoughts, feelings, and experiences out there in a more vulnerable way. However, around the end of last year, I had around 140 followers (which astounded me that that many people would care enough to actually follow my page) and I began seeing this hobby and self-care tool turning into a full blown passion.
At the start of 2018, I upgraded my WordPress plan so I could own Jessofearth.com which is something I never expected to do. I never thought I would have my own domain or be writing consistently for an audience. Despite that, I went into 2018 determined to grow as a write while also growing my audience. And after 10 months, I have hit 500 followers. To some, that might not be a great feat, but I am really proud of it. I have had a lot going on this year, and still maintaining a 4 day a week posting schedule was a challenge that I met head on and I am proud of my own consistency, dedication, and lack of excuses.
From time to time, I feel discouraged by bigger blogs who seem to just blow up overnight and I wonder what I am doing wrong. But in those moments, I like to return to the meaningful engagements I have had on here so far, the cool people I’ve met, and the projects I have been a part of.
With all of that being said, I would like to take this moment to say thank you to anyone reading this, especially those of you who consistently check in and drop by to discuss the things I write with me. Thank you for the constant support and I hope to return the support as best I can.
This brings me to a goal I have for 2019, to be a more engaged blogger. I love to write and I also love to read, but sometimes I get so busy that I fail to sit and take the time to really explore the community and keep up with blogs that interest me. I have found so many talented writers with different intentions and goals, and I hope to give them the engagement they deserve.
Overall, thank you so much to all of you who have followed this year and thank you to all of you who have taken the time to read what I have written, whether or not you decide to follow me. I am excited to finish this year off strong and I am looking forward to 2019 being a year filled with exciting new content to share.
Jess~
