A fun little list of “less than frightening” Halloween movies that are fun for the whole family!
Super scary movies aren’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some Halloween fun! Here are a list of a few more Halloween movies that I find to be fun and festive whether you’re a horror lover or not! Check out last year’s list here!
1-
Beetlejuice- Don’t say his name 3 times! Beetlejuice is a wild movie about whose plot is even wilder: “After Barbara and Adam Maitland die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes and teen daughter Lydia buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice, a rambunctious spirit whose “help” quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.
2-
Edward Scissorhands- This movie appeals to the sap in me. It is about Edward, a reanimated human whose hands are scissors, but he is actually quite soft and gentle. It is a love story that is a bit strange and quirky, but I really recommend it. Plus the combination of Winona Rider and Johnny Depp is a match made in heaven.
3-
Hotel Transylvania- I love the whole Hotel Transylvania series. They are silly, corny, and a bit dumb but they make me laugh. The story centers around Dracula and his daughter Mavis, a father daughter vampire duo who own and operate a high-end resort for monsters. One day a human wander into their monster haven and changes everyone’s view on how monsters and humans can relate to one another. I love watching the movies with my mom and I think they are so so cute.
4-
Coraline- Coraline is a darker Alice in Wonderland type film in my opinion. A young girl, who has trouble relating to her family, stumbles upon a door that leads her to an alternate reality that is like her own but different. The movie is filled with twists and turns and very unique animation. It is creepy but not scary and definitely something you can watch even if you don’t enjoy horror films. (Don’t mind the weird poster, it was the best resolution for the size I needed)
5-
Shaun of the Dead- This last one isn’t exactly E for everyone, but I still think it is a really fun movie to watch with people who aren’t lovers of the truly scary. It is sort of a zombie movie parody about a man named Shaun, a 30-something loser, trying to traverse the zombie apocalypse with his roommate, girlfriend, and mother. It is a funny story of one man trying to rise to the occasion and his blunders along the way (at least that’s how I see it). I 10/10 recommend for a good laugh.
What films are you looking forward to watching this Halloween?
Jess~
Love this list! One more that’s on my rewatch-list is The Nightmare Before Christmas. I can never resist that one, haha.

100% I think I included that one on last year’s list because it is such a classic! (and the perfect holiday transition during this time of year)
