August 27th 2017“Maybe I don’t know, and maybe that’s okay…” ~Jon Bellion
Based on the title of this post, one would think that I was about to offer you the answer as to why things happen the way they do as if I have some great other-worldly understanding of how things work that no one else has access too. Well, I’m sad to admit that you’re wrong. I am in no way more knowledgeable or aware than you of the reasons things happen to us in life. However, I have seen a few examples presented to me that have given me a least just a bit of an understanding about things happen to us in the manner they do.
I mentioned this briefly in my blog post from last Sunday where I discussed my current position in life and my emotions toward my life and parting ways with a company that I was supposed to start working full time with this month. I came to the conclusion that the Universe removed me from that situation by force because I was not willing to remove myself.
I find this happens in a lot of situations. We stay in things like shitty jobs, toxic relationships, apartments we hate, cars that always break down, etc., because we are afraid to move on to where our fullest potential will lead us. So the Universe, being worried that you will spend your entire life living in the same subpar situation, takes the toxic thing away from you and watches you flounder around without it for a bit. So the Universe gets you fired, has toxic friends or partners break up with you, has your landlord go to jail for tax evasion, and has your car break a part that is no longer made in this century, all because it wants you to leave these toxic things.
I was in a job I hated. I felt like no one took me seriously, or had patience for the fact that I was learning, or wanted anything to do with me. I knew that my performance was constantly being discussed behind my back and I went to work feeling uncomfortable and on edge every time I stepped through the door. However, I didn’t leave because I thought this was my best option. The office was 10 minutes from my yoga studio and 15 minutes from my house, and when you’re working in New York, that commute is literally a lotto win. But what I wasn’t realizing was, a great commute wouldn’t get me closer to my dreams and a great commute wouldn’t advance my career or make me feel any more comfortable at work.
So the Universe told me it was time to go. I lost the job, cried it out for a day, and now I realize that my life isn’t meant to be spent in a dead end job full of stress and disappointment. Money and a good commute aren’t going to get me closer to my goals, taking uncomfortable risks will.
So essentially, the reason things happen is because they are supposed to. I know that is no magical secret or anything, but it is more meaningful when you see it happen. So I challenge you to find one example of a time when the Universe hurt you to help you thrive. Find that example and watch your outlook change.
Remember that the Universe wants what’s best for you, even if it hurts. You may not know what is meant to happen next, but sometimes you find the biggest magic at a fresh start~

Love the deep thinking here (it’s my thing :-P). I agree, but I don’t know if I’d say the Universe hurts us. I think we send out signals to the Universe, perhaps through thoughts and our energy, that we don’t want what we have. So, the Universe responds in kind. Once we figure out what it is we want, the Universe will work to get it for us. The only thing is that sometimes it takes time, and I’m not patient.
Thanks for reading my blog post today about moving home. I’d been putting signals out into the Universe for a move for years. Unfortunately, my husband was putting out the opposite signal and it negated mine. Finally, when my husband decided it was time for a change, within a few weeks, the Universe responded and sent him a good job offer that he didn’t even apply for. So, hang in there, the right thing will come along for you.

Thank you very much and yes I agree, the universe usually sends you what you want or what you really need in due time. I just think that sometimes it hurts a little when we aren’t willing to admit to ourselves that we need the change and the universe realizes first.
Also, you’re welcome! It is great that life had a way of giving you and your husband what you both wanted and needed in the long run!
